St Patrick
Known as the “Apostle Of Ireland” who was the active missionary and Bishop in Ireland during the second half of
the 5th century. He was the enlightener of Ireland and is the primary patron, some will say the first of the country.
Early medieval tradition credits him with being the first bishop of the land, and is regarded by many as the founder and the converting of Christianity in Ireland. He has been generally so regarded ever since, despite evidence of some earlier Christian presence in Ireland. Celebrations and festivities (the day everyone is Irish) falls on March 17th which is considered the day of the saints passing. Born in Roman Britain history has revealed some aspects of Patrick’s life such as his background stating his grandfather was a priest, and his father being a deacon. Legend credits Patrick with teaching the Irish about the doctrine
of the Holy Trinity by showing people the shamrock, a three-leafed plant using it to illustrate the Christian teaching of one God. Other credits of the saint are the absence of snakes in the country. Giving rise to the legend that they had all have been banished by Patrick chasing them into the sea after they attacked him during a 40-day fast he was undertaking on top of a hill. In all, the history of saints will reveal many different sides and many different views of stories, but I believe what’s most important is the
respect and recognition to all in a peaceful manor, and what a better way to observe peace and respect over a beautiful pint of Guinness….cheers!

No Foolin With Doolin
Pol an Ionain is limestone cave near County Clare, Ireland that is open to the public and is known as Doolin Cave.
The birth of this landscape began with the demise of another. Under the sea some millions of years ago, marine animals, plants, shells and coral accumulated over centuries to form thick limestone beds. This compacting of marine life and subsequent limestone formation was unevenly distributed due to the movement of the oceans currents washing away and eroding many life
forms. The cave was amazingly discovered in 1952 by 12 men crawling and searching which has grown into a “must adventure” for all cave dwellers around the world. This area has been covered in ice up until 12,000 years ago, the limestone pavements, a distinguishing feature of the Burren landscape. The Burren is certain designated area in Ireland. Glacier’s scraping away the surface debris of soil, stones and the topmost layer of rock is what exposed a massive un-eroded rock surface when the ice finally melted. Over the years of rainfall and water current is what washed away the interior of the cave creating the massive tunnel. Doolin is currently known to man as the largest deposit of limestone and with endless discovery of fossil that till this day is still being explored. Take the time when in Ireland and explore, you never know what treasures you will find!
Grainne Gallanagh
Grainne Gallanagh was born on June 22 1994 and represented Ireland in this past 2018 Miss Universe pageant placing in the top 20 contestants. Grainne is huge advocate for women’s rites and is a nurse by trade (phew, it’s hot in here). Raised in a family environment Grainne is constantly representing charities of all sorts but still her main focus is on women’s issues. Man
Cave always takes pride in representing women that make the effort not just to be a pretty face but to be out there changing, making a difference in world one smile at a time. Her colleagues nominated her to go BBC’s great British Menu to give thanks to all medical staff serving out on the front lines. By the way we would also like to thank everyone serving out on the front lines as well! And in my opinion, Gallanagh should have won that pageant with all the luck of the Irish!
Green Machine
St. Patrick’s Day is one of the busiest $$$ bar days of the year, and the only time you’ll see people enjoying green drinks. Usually anything green in a bar should not be consumed…or anywhere else in that matter. But mainly beer and yes I particularly think it’s disgusting. But where and when did these shenanigans start? History states that it started actually as an American fad in and around 1915 in Boston. I mean think about it, you can’t turn Gunnies green, so welcome to the states. Some of the earliest stories of green beer actually have nothing to do with St Pat’s but more to do with the fact that the brew hasn’t been sufficiently
aged. You ever see water after it’s been contained in direct sunlight? But come this magical day of celebration, the young and even the old will indulge into the mysteries of what turned their beer green. Just keep in mind that it could be fungus amungus depending on the bar and how clean their glasses are!! (Please Drink Green Shit Responsibly).
